Walking in Mind

A Trail of Thoughts

Suddenly the night has grown colder…

What more can the poet gift us than the words we need to face the hour of his departing.

As someone long prepared for this to happen,

Go firmly to the window. Drink it in.

Exquisite music.

By the window I hear it, the voice of a troubadour in the tower of song, guiding me towards a final verse, a borrowing of words to bid farewell.

We who had the honour of his evening,

And by that honour had our own restored –

Say goodbye to Leonard Cohen leaving.

Leonard Cohen leaving with his lord.

Old bones creak along the trail. Words often elude me at my desk. I can't go on. I'll go on.
